The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong is delighted to announce a preview of Christie’s Hong Kong Autumn Auctions of Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art with Rosemary Scott and Pola Antebi who will guide members through this season’s sale highlights.
Among the most anticipated works are those from the renowned Le Cong Tang Collection, dating to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), in particular a Jiajing era wucai Fish Jar and Cover, originally from the J. M. Hu collection. Wucai fish jars complete with their original covers are exceptionally rare, and have been items of admiration and reverence by connoisseurs throughout the centuries. The history and background of these works will be discussed alongside other highlights. Following the guided viewing, Rosemary Scott will giving a lecture titled “Treasured by Connoisseurs – A Magnificent Jiajing Fish Jar” from 10:30-11:30am. Please register here for the lecture
Rosemary Scott is International Academic Director of Christie’s Asian Art Departments, and a former Curator of the Percival David Foundation in London, and the Burrell Collection in Glasgow. She is also a past President of the London Oriental Ceramic Society.
Pola Antebi joined Christie’s Hong Kong in 1990 and is the International Director of the Chinese Works of Art Department in Hong Kong. Her areas of expertise include Imperial ceramics, jades and works of art from the Yuan to the Qing periods. She is currently a member of the Hong Kong Management Committee.
Members are reminded that as the preview takes place before the public are admitted, this event is strictly limited to current members only. A limited number of places are available, and pre-registration is required. Drop-ins will not be entertained.
