The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong is delighted to present the first in a new series of talks that will introduce members to collectors and their collections. In this first talk, Chris Hall will present some highlights from his collection and discuss his journey to becoming a world-renowned collector of Chinese textiles. Moderated by Executive Committee member Alex Lin, the conversation will highlight key turning points in his approach to collecting that have shaped the focus and nature of his collection.
Chris Hall is well-known to OCS members for his collection of Chinese and Central Asian textiles. By profession he is an accountant and tax specialist, but his passion for textiles is documented through his contributions to Hali magazine and other specialist publications, as well through his participation in museum exhibitions in Hong Kong, China and Singapore. He is a member of the Min Chiu Society and is an executive committee member and past president of the OCS Hong Kong.
Alex Lin is currently Managing Partner and CIO of Cypress Capital Hong Kong Ltd. and currently serves as an executive committee member for The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong. Alex graduated from University of Michigan with a BA in Economics and Art History. He also received a Master degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University. He has been collecting Chinese export art for over a decade.
