The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong is delighted to announce a private preview of Bonhams’ Autumn sale of Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art with Amethyst Chau.

The autumn series presents foremost the Xianquxuan collection of Dr Frank Chan – former president of the Min Chiu Society – which features a selection of scholarly playthings, including a bamboo brush pot signed “Wu Zhifan”. The curated theme sale, Morphosis, showcases over thirty sculptures, led by a monumental Northern Wei limestone Buddha head. Also on display, the Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction spotlights a Neolithic jade deity mask from the Post-Shijiahe culture. The sale also includes a stellar line-up of Song ceramics, such as a black-glazed ribbed ewer, as well as imperial works from the Ming and Qing periods.

Amethyst Chau is a Senior Specialist of Chinese Works of Art at Bonhams Hong Kong. She has over 15 years of experience in the auction industry, specialising in ceramics, jade and imperial works.

Members are reminded that as the preview takes place before the public are admitted, this event is strictly limited to current members only. A limited number of places are available and pre-registration is required. Drop-ins will not be entertained. Members are further reminded that photography is not ordinarily permitted.

* Since the guided tour “Tang Vogue Beyond the Horizons” at the HK Heritage Discovery Centre takes place at 10:15am the same day, members are encouraged to join both events and a lunch during the break, on a shared-cost basis. Please register for each tour separately and email: ocs@orientalceramics.org.hk with expressions of interest in lunch.
