We are excited to announce an upcoming trip to Guangzhou to visit a number of special exhibitions. The highlight of the weekend will be a guided tour of the exhibition ‘Export Card Cases from the Collection of Guangshan Tang’ by Alex Lin, OCS ExCo member and collector at the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. This exhibition offers a captivating glimpse into the convergence of Chinese culture and Western social norms through a diverse collection of card cases crafted from various designs and materials.
Other highlights include a visit to the ChunYangTai Art Space in the seven-hundred-year old village of Langtou, to visit ‘Figure as Monument – Alberto Giacometti in Langtou’, featuring an impressive collection of 79 works by Alberto Giacometti including sculptures, paintings, drawings, and engravings from the Giacometti Fondation, delving into Giacometti’s unique perspective on architecture and monumentality.
Other visits planned include the Guangdong Museum that is showing an ‘Exhibition of Armenian Cultural Treasures of the 18th–20th Centuries: Collection of Yerevan History Museum’ that explores Armenian culture through a carefully curated collection of textiles, silver, and cultural artefacts and a visit to the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King and the extensive collection of Western Han period artefacts uncovered there.
