The OCS is delighted to announce a day of exhibition tours with two esteemed experts. In the morning session Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of the Art Museum, Chinese University of Hong Kong, will take members through the “History of Gold: Masterpieces from Shaanxi” at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The exhibition traces the development and history of gold-working techniques through an examination of 60 pieces from 22 institutions from Shaanxi province, dating from 1000BC to the 19th Century. After a dimsum lunch at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Dr. Roslyn Hammers will lead members through a discussion of the “Hall of Mental Cultivation of The Palace Museum ”“ Imperial Residence of Eight Emperors” at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum; taking participants through the living place of the Qing emperors and the political centre of the Qing Dynasty. With the Hall closed for renovation in The Palace Museum in Beijing, over 200 artefacts have been selected to be displayed in Hong Kong.
