The Oriental Ceramic Society is pleased to announce a special preview of highlights from Sotheby’s Spring auction led by Nicolas Chow, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s Asia and International Head of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art. Among the highlights is the sale Portable Treasures – The Dr S. Y. Yip Collection featuring an exquisite huanghuali dressing case with carved doors and gilt-bronze fittings from the late Ming to early Qing dynasty (17th century). Another exciting lot is an exceptionally large, fine and important blue-and-white lobed ‘Fish Pond’ bowl from the Ming dynasty (1368”“1644) with the mark of the Xuande emperor (r. 1425”“1435).
