The Oriental Ceramic Society is delighted to present an exclusive guided viewing of popcolours: The Aesthetics of Hues in Antiquities from the HKMoA Collection.

Once used as daily wares, artefacts often feature colours and patterns comparable in style and beauty to the modern designs of today. Besides reflecting the personal taste of their owner, the designs of artefacts could also be influenced by religious beliefs, rules and etiquette, shaping the aesthetic trend of the times. In ancient China, a scheme of "five prime colours" was commonly adopted, consisting of blue, red, yellow, white and black, which featured prominently in everyday life. To discover more, join our five KOLs as they take you on a fascinating journey exploring the colourful world of ancient artefacts and exquisite craftsmanship.

This private viewing takes place when the museum is closed to the public and is exclusively for OCS members. Due to social distancing restrictions, the viewing is limited to 15 people. Although the exhibition tour is free, we welcome donations of $150 to cover administrative costs.

Please note that visitors are required to wear a face mask, receive temperature screening, sanitize hands with rubbing alcohol provided, and register / use the LeaveHomeSafe application to scan the venue QR code at the temperature screening station prior to entry.
